Bringing your authentic self to work is essential.

I smile and laugh loudly, a trait that is typical of Latinas. 

When I’m focused, I may appear serious and sometimes make funny faces during conversations. A consultant once described me as “animated” when I talk, which I took as a gentle nudge to improve my poker face.

While I’ve taken some advice to heart, I embrace the quirks that make me unique. At 54, I recognize that not everyone will accept me for who I am, and that’s perfectly okay. My younger self might have struggled with this, but I’ve grown stronger.

I encourage younger women to heed advice while valuing their true selves. Your unique qualities have shaped your journey, and they hold immense value.

Embrace who you are and show the world your capabilities! Go for it!
